What are the normal pool water loss rates each day due to evapporation?

Noticing I am losing about 1/4" to 1/2" almost daily. The pool does get full sunlight, daytime temps are about 87-95, cool nights (65-70). is this normal evapporation or do I have a leak issue? If I do have a leak issue, what are the suggestions on finding the problem?
