My cat is afraid of everything?

We've recently found a birds nest outside our house and it seems like my cat is trying to sneak up on them and so the birds are pecking her and now she's absolutely terrified of not only going outside at daytime (she sometimes goes out at night only) but she's also afraid while in the house, even when somebody is just about to pet her. Is there anything that I could do to help her get through this? :(
